e-gloo — Magento Vintage Clothes Store
Magento and WordPress for a vintage fashion seller
e-gloo is a UK vintage clothes shop run by Alessia, a university lecturer with a genuine passion for second-hand fashion. Alessia needed more than a standard ecommerce store — she wanted a platform where she could sell her curated vintage finds and also maintain a personal fashion journal, writing about finds, styling ideas, and the stories behind individual pieces.
open-ecommerce.org built a Magento store for the shop combined with a WordPress blog for the journal. The brief was clear: both sides of the platform had to be easy enough for Alessia to manage herself around a full-time academic schedule, with no developer involvement needed for day-to-day updates.
What We Built
The project combined two platforms to give Alessia the full range of functionality she needed:
- Responsive Magento store with a custom theme suited to the vintage fashion aesthetic — clean product pages, category browsing, and a checkout Alessia could configure and manage from the admin
- WordPress blog integrated alongside the Magento store as a personal fashion journal — giving Alessia a space to write about individual pieces, styling approaches, and the vintage finds she sourced
- Product management built around how Alessia actually worked: adding one-off second-hand items, updating descriptions, and managing stock without needing technical help for each listing
- Unified design across both the Magento shop and the WordPress blog, so customers moving between the two experienced a consistent brand
- CMS training covering product uploads, category management, blog publishing, and order processing — delivered so Alessia could operate both platforms independently from day one
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can Magento work for second-hand or vintage products?
Yes. Magento handles one-off and limited-stock items well. You can list individual pieces, set stock to 1, and the product goes offline automatically once sold — which is exactly what a vintage shop needs.
- Can I run a WordPress blog alongside my Magento store?
Yes. We built e-gloo as a Magento shop with a WordPress blog running alongside it under the same visual identity. The two platforms are managed independently but present a consistent brand to visitors.
- Can I manage a Magento store without technical knowledge?
Yes. CMS training is included in every project. Clients add products, update content, and manage orders independently — no developer needed for routine changes.
